2024 Year 14!
"Lovers of Great Music and The Community We Continue to Build!"
It all started with one too many Gin and Tonics and a few PBRs at the Beartrap Summer Festival, outside of Casper, WY August 2011. We were there to see Jalan Crossland. During Jalan’s set, aided by the aforementioned Gin and Tonic, I made a command decision: I needed to host a house concert with Jalan. After his set, I inquired ‘bout the possibilities of a house concert. Much to my surprise his response was, “Yeah, I do house concerts. Where do you live?”
“Colorado.”
“I’ll be in Colorado in October.”
House Concert #1 @539 was October 8th, 2011.
And, that’s how this came to be. From that first show, I was hooked! Providing a venue for these performing artists has become my passion. Our home is now a known venue for an attentive audience and warm welcome.
Other artists who have acquiesced to our request for a show include: The Local Honeys, Danno Simpson, Pete Bernhard, Big Richard, Mama’s Broke, StillHouse Junkies, Resonant Rogues, Nick Shoulders, Willi Carlisle, Danny Barnes, Charlie Parr, Julian Davis, Willy Tea Taylor, Possessed by Paul James, Calhalen and Eli, The Haunted Windchimes, FY5, Joe Johnson, Tom VandenAvond, McDougall, Mike Clark & The River Arkansas, Rachel Brooke, Cary Hudson, Matt Woods, Huck Notari, RapidGrass Quintet, Matt Flinner Trio w/ Jake Schepps, RL Cole, Maxwell Hughes, Mollie O'Brien and Rich Moore, Joseph Huber, Bonnie and The Clydes, The Hooten Hallers, Clyde and The Milltailers
About the shows:
Invitation Only – We are a private House Concert Series and attendance is by Invitation Only. Please contact us to receive an invitation.
Donations – All shows are donation based and 100% of the donations go directly to the musicians
The Music – Most shows lean musically toward acoustic Americana and Roots performances. JR is constantly on the lookout for artists to fill the 4-6 shows hosted each calendar year at Concerts @539.
Typical Show – We have fun! Since the Pandy our shows have changed a bit. Typically one set of music and most shows are in our backyard. We still provide a few beverages and ya never know when food will make a comeback… You might win the World Famous(ly) Stolen @539 Raffle and walk away with a piece of art from Rita, Vinyl Records, Band Merch, or a Gnome for your yard.
It is greatly appreciated by the hosts and performing artists when you purchase merchandise. CDs, vinyl, download codes, t-shirts, and other merch that is available at our merch table. Be the first kid on your block with an autographed CD set.
House Concert
A house show is a chance to enjoy a real experience of live music in a welcoming and intimate setting. It's when someone opens up their home and invites you into their living room, or backyard, to experience a performance by one of their favorite musicians. It's a chance to meet the performers and get them to sign their merchandise. A house concert is also a great social evening for friends and neighbors.
